At present, tenting a house, set of furniture or car is done using a gas called Vikane (sulfuryl flouride).
Well, the following gases kill bed bugs too:
sodium chlorite which turns into chlorine dioxide, and kills bed bugs quickly
carbon dioxide
carbon monoxide
and other gases.
It seems logical that large items, such as houses, furniture and cars, have the option of being tented with these other gases, which may be less expensive than Vikane.
I ca certainly envision driving over a large sheet of plastic in a car, placing dry ice (safely, and in such a way that it won't damage the car) on the sheet of plastic, sealing the sheet of plastic around the car, and waiting long enough for the carbon dioxide to kill off all stages of the bed bugs.
This can be done in conjunction to when the house is treated, to remove the opportunity for an infested car to reinfest a newly successfully treated home.
